🥊 The Sparring Pit
There is a bound construct in the Pit. Once a game day you can step in and fight it. It cannot kill you, it pays no XP, and it drops nothing — and that is the point.
If you have never seen what a fight reads like, or you want to know whether that axe is actually better than the dagger before you walk into a real encounter, this is where you find out for free.
What it costs
- Nothing but the day’s one bout. Win or lose, you walk out with your HP, your kit and your record intact.
- No XP is paid for the bout. Deliberately. The Pit buys practice, not progress.
- No loot, no kill credit, no boss damage. A practice win is logged as sparring, never as a victory, so nothing that counts kills can see it — and the floor boss feels none of it.
- A relic is never spent. The Pit takes nothing out of your bag.
How the bout runs
- The same combat engine as a real fight: same rounds, same crits, same knock-offs. Only the ending differs.
- Your partner is fixed for the day — the same construct for you until the day turns, so you cannot re-roll for a kinder draw.
- The construct tracks your power, so it stays a real opponent as you grow rather than becoming a punching bag.
Before you commit the day
The Pit now reads your armoury and tells you what you are leaving in the bag: the exact before-and-after power for each upgrade you already own, in the same numbers the equip screen uses. It only lists what is genuinely an improvement, and it never swaps anything for you — the decision stays yours.
The quest
Fighting in the Pit satisfies the daily quest Enter the Sparring Pit, worth +30 XP. That is the only reward attached to it, and it is paid once. A crawler who has already sparred today is never dealt the quest, because being handed something you cannot complete is not a quest.
Where it is
Your HUD, in the Combat tab. Look for the construct.
Why it pays nothing: every real fight ends in one place that writes XP, loot and boss damage together. A repeatable fight routed through that door would be a repeatable way to damage the Hydra. The Pit is built to be structurally incapable of reaching it, and that is why it is safe to open once a day.
