The Cipher now pays 150 XP for a clean solve, up from 50. Assisted solves pay less, exactly as before: 150 / 120 / 90 / 60 depending on how many of your three assists you spend. Each assist costs 30 XP out of the reward, which is the same 20% it always was, so nothing about the hint economy changed — only what the board is worth.
Why: the rest of the dungeon pays a quiz up to 280 XP, the Canon Ladder 90 and the Spell Crawler as much as 165. The Cipher is the only daily here that takes real solving — half an hour, sometimes more — and it was paying the least of all of them. Two of you said so this week, and you were both right. That was my error, not a design choice.
If you think 150 is still wrong — too high, too low, or wrong in kind — tell me the number you think is reasonable and why. “It should be more” gives me nothing to act on; “a hard quiz pays 280 for ten minutes and this took me forty, so 200” is an argument I can actually weigh, and I would rather hear it now than in three days from someone else. I will not promise to move it, but I will read every one and I will tell you what I decide.
The panel also shows yesterday’s passphrase now, so a board nobody cracks still gets its answer posted the next day rather than vanishing. And the alphabet is shuffled every game day — yesterday’s key is no help today, which a few of you asked about.
